Monday Art/Journal Prompt

Today is a special Monday art/journaling prompt. Here in the US it is Memorial Day. It is a day to honor and remember those who have served in our military, to pay tribute to those who have given their lives for our country. It is also a time to remember those loved ones we have lost.

For all those we have lost.

I especially remember my brother Roy, who joined the National Guard and had just come home from basic training when he was killed in a car accident. He was taken too soon and I miss him every day. I also remember and honor my nephew Tyler who was serving in the war in Iraq when he was killed. Again too young and will always be missed. I also remember other loved ones, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. Too many to list names, but still the memories are there in my heart and I remember and honor them today. And for all those soldiers who bravely serve in our military and fight for our country, I salute you and thank you and honor you today.

Today’s art/journaling prompt is to do something to remember those we have lost or those who have served their country. It is Memorial Day, and we will create a memorial in our journals for them. Add photos or write a favorite memory of them, or add some military insignia or create a flag page. And be sure to take the time to truly reflect and remember.

  1. Deb, I am so sorry about your brother and your nephew. It’s tragic they died so young.
