Monday Challenge – Do 10% Less

I was at Yoga class today, with my lovely daughter Robyn teaching. She is such an awesome teacher. I really enjoy her classes. I love Yoga class. It helps to relax me and de-stress me and allows me to zone out for a while. I can put the rest of the world out of my mind for that hour and a half.

One thing that she talked about today really stuck with me. She talked about this time of year being so busy and so hectic and so crazy for most people. She really emphasized that we need to take care of ourselves by doing 10% less. We were doing Yoga, of course, but it can certainly be applied to all parts of our life. We tend to do too much, push too hard, try everything, have massive to-do lists. We often don’t get enough sleep, we feel scattered, we can’t focus, we run here and there and never feel like we will get everything done that needs to be done.

But doing 10% less will help us to relax and refocus. 10% is not that much less, but it does make a big difference. Just try it for this week. Ease up a bit and do just a bit less every day, and see how you feel at the end of the week. Don’t stress to get everything done, just get 90% done and see what happens. I bet you will feel more rested, more relaxed, more at peace. And you will still have accomplished quite a bit!

Hey Deb. What an interesting concept. For me it might apply to more than just the holiday season. Thanks for sharing.
